Octave Bar Extends Jazz ProgrammingThe Octave Bar in Covent Garden now hosts live jazz six nights of the week and after three years of presenting jazz in London, is this year proud to be part of the London Jazz Festival in November. The Octave offers modern European food and an extensive cocktail menu in a relaxed, atmospheric environment. With a maximum capacity of 100 in the restaurant and 150 in the bar the club presents both established and up and coming local jazz talent and a weekly jam session.

Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor For Festival HallDue to re-open in June, the Royal Festival Hall, closed for two years for a major refurbishment, has booked a dream brace of gigs with some of the most innovative avant garde jazz musicians. On Sunday 8 July the Cecil Taylor Quartet takes to the Festival Hall’s stage with a quartet featuring saxophonist Anthony Braxton, bassist William Parker and drummer Tony Oxley.

Ornette Wins Journalists' AwardsOrnette Coleman won four awards at the Jazz Journalists Awards held last week in New York's Jazz Standard Club. This continues a momentous year for the 77-year-old who is due in London next week for a Royal Festival Hall concert, as he has already won a Pulitzer and an honorary Grammy. 03.07.07
