16 Acoustic Triangle With The Sacconi Strings
Bury St. Edmunds Cathedral, Bury St. Edmunds
Kicking off a new string of UK dates that stretch right through to the Autumn in various beautiful sacred spaces across the UK, Acoustic Triangle are taking their sonic exploration of inspiring buildings to new heights. Formed of Gwilym Simcock, Tim Garland and Malcolm Creese they are joined by six world-class string players including the Sacconi String Quartet, the newly composed original music original subtly uses passages from themes ancient and modern interwoven into a sumptuous jazz-meets-classical hybrid. With three incredible musical polymaths at this band’s core, coupled to the sonorous string section, it’s hard to imagine a more transcendent and uplifting acoustic live experience.

16 Billy Jenkins Blues Collective
Crossley Gallery, Dean Clough, Halifax
The irrepressible humourist, bowls loving, blues breaker himself struts his ‘sad’ stuff on two dates this month with his hugely talented (if self-effacingly silly) Blues Collective – this is music like you’ve never heard before. The band once more features Dylan Bates on electric violin, Richard 'Homer' Bolton on electric rhythm guitar, Thad Kelly on electric bass guitar and Mike Pickering on drums. Yet the variety and wit of both Billy’s barbed humourous asides and the band’s ability to keep their lopsided free-jazz-meets-blasting-blues barely upright, is a high wire act that is a must see live.
