The column they’re queuing to be in...
It’s Ronnie Scott’s, Jim, but not quite as we know it. In late June London’s much loved Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club opened its doors for the first time since late March following a £2.5 million refurbishment by new owner, impresario Sally Greene. Sighs of relief all round then as the legendary room has retained its intrinsic charm and magic – the air still vibrating with Ronnie and the jazz spirits of yore – but now has a more refined, elegant edge with better seating, a more spacious feel, improved sight lines and a very impressive new sound system. The wondrous photo gallery of greats who have played there over the years, by David Redfern, David Sinclair and others, are all back in place, now joined by a number of new hangings. And with new set times, a more upscale menu and a drinks list that has the ability to challenge the weightiest of wallets it’s clearly going to attract a new audience…
