A straw poll across jazz audiences and the industry suggested November’s London Jazz Festival was the best ever, with an electrifying line-up that was exciting, inspired and educational. The Wayne Shorter Quartet set the bar unbelievably high on the opening night at the Barbican and during the week many venues sold out, including the much welcomed return of Camden’s Roundhouse. Audience numbers amounted to over 50,000 making it the most successful festival yet with 160 events across the length and breadth of the capital. And the audiences are getting younger too.
