The influential new jazz showcases return online with emerging artists featured each week
Award-winning label and promoters Jazz Re:freshed have been one of the single most influential forces behind the UK’s resurgent jazz scene – much of which was born out of their 17-year residency at the Mau Mau bar on London’s Portobello Road. The new series will be live streamed via the label’s YouTube and Facebook Live pages from 9pm, every Thursday night from 7 January 2021.
Adam Moses, co-Founder, Event & Label Director of Jazz re:freshed said of the new livestreamed sessions: “Despite barriers, we are still on a mission to celebrate a genre and musicians whose performance opportunities are severely reduced right now, and to showcase the incredibly diverse, colourful, expressive and creative world of jazz music and alternative culture in the UK.”
Among the many future stars nurtured by Jazz Re:freshed are saxophonists Shabaka Hutchings and Nubya Garcia, pianists Ashley Henry and Sarah Tandy, drummers Moses Boyd and Yussef Dayes, as well as combos including Native Dancer and Ezra Collective.
