Video of the Day: LA duo Henry Solomon and Logan Kane share ‘Hits!’ featuring Louis Cole and Dennis Hamm

Saxophonist Henry Solomon and bass guitarist Logan Kane are two rising stars of the LA jazz scene, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists like HAIM and Big Sean. They follow the January release of their latest album, Outside World 2, with a dazzling and intense single ‘Hits!’, which features Jazz FM award-winning drummer Louis Cole (co-founder of Knower) and Thundercat’s longtime keyboardist Dennis Hamm. The film follows Henry and Logan as their minds are infiltrated by strange technological viruses that are emanating from the waves of new phone towers in the city.

The duo describe the video’s maximalist aesthetic as mimicking the “overstimulation of daily life saturated by the internet”. It therefore made perfect sense to pair them with Pedro Bello, an animator whose work (such as his video for Miami rapper Fat Nick) features similar themes inspired by internet conspiracies and the work of David Dees. As Logan and Henry aim to synthesize the fast paced internet experiences of their generation through music, Pedro’s work aims at this same goal through experimental animation and abstract storytelling.
