Broadcaster Chris Philips and pianist Nikki Iles receive Ivors Academy Golden Badges

Key names recoginised for their longstanding commitment and passion for jazz

The Ivors Academy – which recognises outstanding musical talent across all musical styles – has announced the recipients of its Golden Badges with the notable inclusion of two key figures from the UK jazz scene. These are acclaimed broadcaster Chris Philips, known for his key role as the former head of music at Jazz FM and one of its founding DJs, who is recognised by the Ivors for his dedication to promoting jazz in the UK, while pianist Nikki Illes is also recognised for her work as a leading performer, composer and educator.

Further names receiving a Golden Badge include renowned soul-jazz vocalist Omar Lye-Fook MBE, highly respected soul DJ Trevor Nelson, distinguished composer and conductor Odaline de la Martinez and exceptional pianist and teacher Thalia Myers among others. The awards will be presented by broadcaster Edith Bowmen at a ceremony at The Savoy in London on 11 October.
