New Artists Showcased At Candid Records Week

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Candid records may be best known for artists who have made their names on the label like Jamie Cullum and Clare Teal but the London-based record company is in the process of promoting a whole new breed of artists and this month holds its annual week at the Pizza Express Jazz Club, London from 30 October-4 November.

First up on at the Pizza on 30 and 31 October is Filipina singer Mishka Adams who launches her follow up album to God Bless The Child, titled Space. Trumpeter Paul Jayasinha follows on 1 November playing selections from his debut album for the label and then over the nights of 2 and 3 November there’s a double bill of Canadian singer/alto saxophonist Sheila Cooper again launching a new album plus Candid artist Cormac Kenevey and the Phil Ware Trio. The festival week is rounded off by The Blessing, a group headed by trip hop group Portishead’s Jim Barr and Clive Deamer previewing material from their album All Is Yes to be released on Candid next year.
