The fast-rising Scottish pianist is back with his new album Forest Floor and some UK live dates to support the release

Scottish pianist Fergus McCreadie’s third album, Forest Floor (Edition Records) on Friday 8 April with a launch gig at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh the same day, and is set to play Ronnie Scott’s, London on Tuesday 19 April before heading out on a UK tour.

Recorded with his trio companions, bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson, the album follows the enthusiastically received Cairn and McCreadie’s Parliamentary Jazz Award-winning debut, Turas.

“With this recording, it’s the same studio, same piano and same musicians as before,” says McCreadie. “But I feel the sound we have as a trio has become more developed and rounded somehow. This album has its own journey, its own destination. As we perform this more and more, the music will change and our approach to it will adapt with it. That’s the beauty of this music. It’s all about evolution, not standing still, but listening and adapting with it.”

Following the Edinburgh and London dates, McCreadie’s trio plays West Kilbride Village Hall (22 April), Perth Theatre (23 April), An Tobar, Tobermory (6 May), Nairn Community & Arts Centre (13 May), Merchants House, Glasgow (15 May), Bonington Theatre, Nottingham (26 May) The Witham, Barnard Castle (27 May), St Margaret’s, Braemar (28 May), Jazz Stroud (29 May), Lemon Tree, Aberdeen (26 June), and Love Supreme (1 July).
