The Parliamentary Jazz Award-nominated vocalist shares the latest video featuring The Big Swing, her new ensemble that she co-leads with singer Georgina Jackson
The Big Swing is a new female-fronted big band led by Georgina Jackson and Emma Smith and featuring some of the best players on the scene, including Nikki Iles, Rachel Cohen, Josephine Davis and guest vocalist Vula Malinga of Basement Jaxx, collectively they present a radically fresh, entertaining look at the ‘traditional’ big band.
Co-leaders Jackson and Smith are both highly regarded, multi-talented swinging singers with CV’s including Ronnie Scott’s residencies, BBC Proms, Seal, The Puppini Sisters, chart topping releases, rave reviews and loyal supporters to both of their names.
They now lead their own hand-picked, diverse and dynamic mix of world-renowned musicians who share their passion for powerhouse, deeply swinging big band music. Expect a mix of the jazz classics and new repertoire with swing at its core.
