Andy Sheppard Quintet Set For Club Debut And New Album

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Saxophonist Andy Sheppard plays the Vortex in London on Saturday 12 January with a band it seems likely he will record with.

The new quintet includes guitarist John Parricelli, with whom Andy has recorded for the Provocateur label, particularly the album PS from 2003, long time colleague tabla player Kuljit Bhamra, plus Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset, who has in the past been closely identified with keyboardist Bugge Wesseltoft, and legendary bassist Arild Andersen, who is renowned for his work on ECM. Sheppard’s last solo credited album as a leader was Nocturnal Tourist for Provocateur.
