Anthony Joseph, Jasper Høiby, Marquis Hill, Zoe Rahman and Late Shows added to Jazzwise 25th Anniversary Festival at Ronnie Scott’s

A packed week of gigs will celebrate the diversity of jazz that has been championed by Jazzwise over its 25-year history

The full line-up for the Jazzwise 25th Anniversary Festival, which takes place at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club from 21-27 March, has now been confirmed and includes international jazz names and high-energy late shows.

Additional names now confirmed include a double bill of leading Danish bassist Jasper Høiby and his Planet B Trio, followed by jazz vocalist and spoken word artist Anthony Joseph and his all-star band – both appearing on Wednesday 23 March. A further addition to the closing weekend programme is exciting US trumpeter Marquis Hill, best known for his global tours with bass boss Marcus Miller, and now signed to Edition Records for his solo album New Gospel Revisited – who plays on Sunday 27 March with a powerful group featuring drum star Makaya McCraven.

Four Late Shows are also now confirmed with bands led by with funky guitarist Dani Diodato (23 Mar) and drummer Myele Manzanza (24 Mar) with a special Friday night show from Ubuntu-signed trumpeter James Copus, who will be joined by Will Barry (keys), Conor Chaplin (bass) and Myele Manzanza (drums). Bassist and bandleader/ Whirlwind Recordings label boss Michael Janisch brings his Worlds Collide band to close the week out with a line-up of Paul Booth (tenor sax), Alex Hitchcock (tenor sax), Rick Simpson (piano/keys) and Shane Forbes (drums).

The week’s headliners include Bill Laurance with the Royal Academy Big Band (21 Mar); Claire Martin and her European Quartet (22 Mar); Jasper Høiby's Planet B Trio (early show) and Anthony Joseph (main show, 23 March); Cassie Kinoshi’s Seed (24 Mar); Courtney Pine’s Journey to the Urge Within… and Beyond (25 Mar); Arun Ghosh Band featuring Zoe Rahman (26 Mar) and Marquis Hill's New Gospel Revisited (27 March).
