London-based promoters/record label, Jazz re:freshed are set to present an online version of their hugely successful Jazz re:fest event from 5-9pm on 23 August via YouTube. Artists appearing include exciting saxophonist Binker Golding, award-winning groove-troupe Steam Down, fast rising singer Sahra Gure, KOKOROKO trumpeter Ms Maurice, funky-fusion quartet Golden Mean, exciting young drummer Jas Kayser and acclaimed singer/poet Anthony Joseph.

Jazz re:fest began as a free one-day event at London’s Southbank Centre, with thousands of young jazz fans filling the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall. Yet such was its success showcasing such future stars such as Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia and Alpha Mist, that the event outgrew its London birthplace, with the two most recent editions have been held at Brighton’s Dome, featuring performances from the likes of Mercury nominees SEED Ensemble and the powerful grooves of tuba star Theon Cross who went down a storm with the packed-out audiences.

Commenting on this year’s digital edition Adam Moses, co-founder of Jazz re:freshed said: “Despite barriers, we are still on a mission to celebrate a genre and musicians whose performance opportunities are severely reduced right now, and to showcase the incredibly diverse, colourful, expressive and creative world of jazz music and alternative culture. The festival has been the perfect launchpad for pioneering artists such as Moses Boyd and SEED Ensemble, and it’s great to return with a mix of fresh talent and established acts, and with the support of MQA and Bluesound to deliver the performances remotely in studio-quality resolution.”

The livestreamed event will be broadcast in partnership with speaker company Bluesound – with the high res sound streamed in MQA audio to Bluesound speaker owners and BluOS Enabled devices.

The full festival will be streamed live from 5-9pm on Sunday 23rd August via the Jazz re:freshed YouTube channel here
