Extra London show added to Robert Glasper Experiment Band tour

Friday, July 15, 2016

An extra date has been added to multi-Grammy Award-winning keyboard kingpin Robert Glasper’s autumn tour with his highly-charged Experiment Band, on 14 November at KOKO in Camden, which is in addition to their almost sold-out KOKO show on 15 November.

Both dates are part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Known for their innovative blend of jazz mixed with deep hip hop-fuelled grooves and cutting-edge fusion electronic sounds, as well as their twisted takes of songs by Nirvana, Radiohead and Herbie Hancock, the band features longtime Glasper associates including charismatic singer and saxophonist/keyboardist Casey Benjamin, bassist Derrick Hodge and drummer Mark Colenburg.

The latter musicians have all appeared on previous Experiment band albums, the latest of which, as yet untitled, is due for release this autumn on Blue Note ahead of the UK tour. Kicking off a seven-date UK tour with two headline concerts at KOKO, Camden Town on 14 and 15 November, the band go on to play Band on the Wall, Manchester (16 Nov); Sage, Gateshead (17 Nov); Hull Jazz Festival, Hull (18 Nov); Colston Hall, Bristol (19 Nov) and Town Hall, Birmingham (20 Nov).
