Ishmael Ensemble, Steam Down Collective and Emma-Jean Thackray heat up Jazz Stroud Festival
Wednesday, May 22, 2019
The fourth edition of the Jazz Stroud Festival takes place from 23 to 26 May at various venues around the picturesque Cotswold town.

Nestled within the Five Valleys in Gloucestershire, the town is known as a hub for alternative music and culture. The festival’s leftfield line-up includes bands drawn from the vibrant Bristol scene, as well as London’s hip new-jazz talent pool. These include Jazz FM Award nominated trumpeter Emma-Jean Thackray and double winners Steam Down Collective (pictured), with the latter headlining the Goods Shed, the festival’s main stage, on 24 May.
Further names include Alabaster De Plume, Leaf Cutter John, Ishmael Ensemble, The Breath, Snazzbasck, China Bowls and several emerging artists with Tomorrow’s Warriors Roots, such as Roella Oloro Quintet, CIL (Cecilia Morgan) and Jelly Cleaver. Programmed by SVA, the festival is supported by Pink Noise Systems, Sennheiser and leading PA providers D&B Audiotechnik with one of their cutting-edge ‘soundscape’ speaker systems installed in the Goods Shed during the event.
