Last call for Mercury Music Prize submissions
Thursday, July 23, 2015
There is just one week left before submissions close for the 2015 Mercury Music Prize, for any musicians considering entering their recording for this prestigious award, worth £20,000.

In previous years jazz artists have benefitted hugely from their inclusion on the list of nominations and the exposure following the announcement, particularly last year with the nomination of two jazz influenced artists, GoGo Penguin and Polar Bear (pictured above at last year's ceremony).
Now in its 24th year, the Mercury Music Prize is returning to the BBC having been shown on Channel 4 for the last three years, in a new partnership with the BPI (British Phonographic Industry). According to The Guardian, a Mercury Prize spokesperson has stated that “2015 will see the prize move away from its traditional awards show event to work with the BBC to deliver even greater reach and more premium quality music content across its platforms.”
Bands and solo artists are advised that this year’s closing date for submissions is 31 July.
