Leroy Jones, Ian Shaw and Joe Stilgoe bring on the New Orleans swing for UK tour

Hard blowing New Orleans trumpeter and singer Leroy Jones has announced a 15-date UK tour, including five nights at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club, with gigs running from 23 October to 11 November.

The tour also will feature acclaimed UK singers/pianists Ian Shaw and Joe Stilgoe, who will perform with Jones on a set of material spanning his four-decade long career, taking in New Orleans swing through to soul and bebop classics plus original material.

Jones is a member of the New Orleans Jazz Hall of Fame, and was a bandleader from the age of 12 of the seminal Fairview Band, while he’s performed with the likes of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the Harry Connick Jnr Orchestra and Dr John. Jones is known as a highly respected ‘keeper of the flame’ of authentic New Orleans jazz and the powerful trumpet style of Louis Armstrong.

Live dates are: Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street, London (23-27 Oct); Alban Arena, St. Albans (29 Oct); Royal Hall, Harrogate (1 Nov); Rose Theatre, Kingston (2 Nov); Festival Theatre, Malvern (3 Nov); The Concorde Club, Southampton (4 Nov); Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells (5 Nov); Lighthouse, Poole (7 Nov); The Apex, Bury St Edmonds (9 Nov) Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool (10 Nov); and RNCM, Manchester (11 Nov).
