Blume, the debut album by the seven-piece Nérija is released today

Fast rising seven-piece Nérija have released their eagerly-anticipated major label debut Blume, today on Domino Records.

The latter imprint is best known as the home to Arctic Monkeys and Jack White among others, thus it’s apt that band’s award-winning guitarist Shirley Tetteh shapes the album with African and indie-rock sounds, giving the powerful horn-led melodies a deft sonic twist.

Comprised of some of the UK’s brightest jazz talents including saxophonists Nubya Garcia and Cassie Kinoshi, trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey and trombonist Rosie Turton, alongside Tetteh, bassist Rio Kai and drummer Lizy Exell, the band are set to play the End of the Road Festival (29 Aug-2 Sep) with more dates TBC.

See the September issue of Jazzwise for an exclusive interview with the band.
