Surprise jazz choice for Mercury Prize

The Basquiat Strings, a classical string quartet with the addition of jazz drummer Seb Rochford, has been nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize shortlist announced earlier today. Rochford best known for his work with former Mercury nominees Polar Bear, collaborated with strings players Emma Smith, Vicky Fifield, Jenny May-Logan, Nell Catchpole, Richard Pryce and Ben Davis for the record titled Basquiat Strings With Seb Rochford released on the F-ire label.
