The saxophonist shares the new stunning abstract video for this slowly building ballad

London-based saxophonist, clarinettist and composer Andrew Woolf has just released his debut album – Song Unsung – that features a strong line-up of players from across the capital’s jazz scene including trumpeter Joe Auckland, guitarist Rob Updegraff, bassist Dave Manington and drummer Simon Roth.

The album combines subtle African and Brazilian derived grooves that sit alongside ethereal and atmospheric free abstractions, while other compositions present soulful melodies which belie their odd-meter undercurrents – all drawn together by an emphasis on direct, melodic expression, and heartfelt sincerity of emotion throughout.

Woolf’s warm and lyrical tenor saxophone is complemented beautifully by the distinctive voices of the other musicians, bringing an intimate quality to their improvisations and playful interactions.
