Until Now is the debut album by Israeli guitarist and composer, Ron Magril and features leading Israeli musicians Avshalom Meidan on piano, Oren Hardy on double bass and Ofri Nehemya, the internationally renowned drummer who performs with the likes of Shai Maestro, Ben Wendel and bassist Avishai Cohen.Working with Avshalom, Oren and Ofri was like a dream come true for me and I feel that our longstanding friendship helped us to find our sound as a band.”

Magril’s eight original compositions combine a love and understanding for the jazz tradition, in particular Hard Bop, with his own distinctive sound. Stand out tracks include ‘Africa’, a tribute to McCoy Tyner and the poignant ‘Meaningful Moments’, which celebrates key moments in Magril’s life during the pandemic including the conception of his son. On a lighter note, Magril wrote ‘It’s the Cops’ during his first month living in New York. “Every time I played my guitar, or even listened to music, I had problems with my neighbour,” explains Magril. “After one big fight, I saw a police car down the street and thought he called them because of me!”

“I truly believe that Until Now describes exactly who I am as a musician and as a human being,” says Magril. “When the pandemic started, I had to leave my new home in New York, hold my studies for a while and return to Tel Aviv, my hometown. Those days were tough for me. To feel that emptiness and depression made me realise how passionate I am about recording and playing my music live. I knew that it was finally the right moment for me to record my debut album and to play my music again.”
