Jasmine Myra’s second album, which is released on 3 May, builds on the success of her breakthrough Gondwana debut, Horizons, with the ambitious new music marking her out as one of UK jazz's rising stars. Produced by Gondwana label boss Matthew Halsall and mixed by Greg Freeman (Hania Rani, Matthew Halsall, Portico Quartet), ‘Rising’ delivers a confident and vibrant follow up that joins the musical dots between Myra’s influences of revered Canadian trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, the genre-splicing innovation of electronic music producer/bassist Bonobo and the spiritual elements of Shabaka Hutchings’ music.

The album is also the sound of a composer and performer growing in stature and adding extra layers of confidence and poise to both her playing and composing. The single’s video was directed by Daniel Halsall and features Myra on alto sax and her band of Arran Kent (bass clarinet), Jasper Green (Nord keyboard), Ben Haskins (guitar), Alice Roberts (harp), Sam Quintana (double bass), George Hall (drums and percussion) and Greg Burns (congas).

The single is out today, 23 February, watch the video below and for more info visit gondwana.lnk.to/Rising
