Video of the Day: The Bongolian shares 'El Beardo'

Wednesday, March 10, 2021

Multi-instrumentalist Nasser Bouzida – a.k.a. The Bongolian – shares his latest high-energy tune that’s packed with a percussion heavy groove and serious retro Nuyorican Jazz vibes

Taken from the recently released album, Harlem Hipshake (Blow Up Records), The Bongolian (Nasser Bouzida) dives deep into his deep love for the music of New York’s 1960s Latin Soul scene, particularly the music of Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria and Joe Bataan.

Principally a drummer/percussionist by trade, Nasser once again delivers another set of heavy breaks and percussive grooves underpinning this brand-new collection of songs which he has written and produced. While Nasser performs many the album’s instruments (as is usual with Bongolian albums), this is his first album featuring leading UK musicians on additional brass duties with Terry Edwards (trumpet, trombone, sax, flute), Gareth James Bailey (trombone), Craig Crofton (alto sax) and James Morton (alto Sax)
