Led by trumpeter Konstantin Döben, Berlin-based five-piece Conic Rose draw on a contemporaneous blend of sounds: from dusted cinematic jazz textures to lofi-infused beats and chiming indie guitar – theirs is a sound that’s hard to categorise. The band themselves are involved in myriad other projects that include names such as arena-filling German pop stars Clueso or Samy Deluxe but also top jazz artists such as Michael Wollny or Joy Denalane.

What connects them is their love to explore, create, redefine, and effortlessly move between abstraction and accessibility, high quality sound and the beauty of the imperfect, interweaving electronic elements, vibey soundscapes and hints of art rock with eclectic, zeitgeisty influences. Their releases so far as well as the few shows they played on the back of their debut EP (2020) exceeded all expectations, attracting the attention of industry professionals all the way from the UK or USA. Now, they are ready to release their highly awaited debut album in February 2023.

The band also features Johannes Arzberger (keys, electronics); Bertram Burkert (guitar), Silvan Strauß (drums) and Franziska Aller (bass guitar) – with Döben explaining how the band developed: "Coming from a jazz background, I had to work up the courage to write something simple and accessible. But that was what I felt I could stand behind. Like a rock band, we sit together in the studio, someone records something, the others put in their two cents, and suddenly it becomes something. Sometimes you have to leave something for a week before you can continue working on it. And at some point it grows into a whole sound. It was the search for an essence that we approached, without ever completely touching it.“

Heller Tag is release on 17 February 2023 – see the video for ‘Gleisdreieck’ below and for more info visit conicrose.lnk.to/Gleisdreieck and conicrose.bandcamp.com/album/heller-tag
