Trumpeter narrates and plays on new mini-film ahead of next week’s US elections

Following on from the release of his acclaimed latest album, The Ever Fonky Lowdown; and ahead of the US Presidential elections next week, trumpeter-composer-bandleader Wynton Marsalis features in a new entitled ‘The Ultimate Litmus’.

Marsalis recorded the vocals and trumpet to this protest-themed poem by Jenny Hersch, set over photos by Bryan R Smith from recent demonstrations across the US. Also featured are Dwight Adams on trumpet; trombone, Jeffery Miller; Ibanda Ruhumbika on tuba; and Ali Jackson on percussion.

The video was co-produced by Marsalis’ band leader and bass player, Carlos Henriquez of Jazz At Lincoln Centre Orchestra, who also composed the music and plays on the soundtrack.
