Tuesday, October 11, 2011
The Polyamory Sound Festival, according to the organisers, is a Europe-wide festival for “experimental and genre-crossing music” and last year took place in Berlin, Vienna and Cologne.

Created by bassist Lukas Kranzelbinder this month Polyamory returns with the action moving to London and Vienna, featuring leading jazz and experimental improv musicians from three capitals, London, Paris and Vienna, for gigs in London and Vienna.
The London leg of the festival, whose main word title etymology takes from a Greek and Latin construct meaning “the practice, desire, or acceptance of having more than one intimate relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved”, is held at two locations: the Servant Jazz Quarters on Bradbury Street in Dalston; and the Vortex close by on the street behind at Gillett Square.
On Monday 24 October the line-up is MA (Tom Challenger saxophone; Matt Calvert electronics; and Dave Smith, drums); plus PASF [Collab], a set of experimental collaborations with several time-slots provided to a number of artists at a time with Jeanne Added (pictured), Seb Brun, Julien Desprez, Georg Vogel, Lukas König, Leo Riegler, Lukas Kranzelbinder, Tom Challenger, Dave Smith, and Matt Calvert.
Polyamory on Tuesday 25 Oct moves over to the Vortex with Kragel (Georg Vogel, piano, and Lukas Kranzelbinder, bass) plus PASF [Collab] and on the Wednesday 26 Oct programme it’s round the corner to the Servant Jazz Quarters with Linnake (Jeanne Added, voice); Julien Desprez, guitar; and Seb Brun drums) plus Koenig Leopold (Leo Riegler voice, electronics and Lukas König drums, electronics).
The festival then moves across Europe to Vienna for three days in the Austrian capital from Thursday 27-Saturday 29 October with on the Thursday MA and Hold Your Love (Added plus Ritsche Koch on trumpet and Lukas Kranzelbinder, bass) in concert at Brut in the Konzerthaus on Lothringerstrasse plus Nightline hosted by Elektro Guzzi (DJs) with a Zanshin live set. On Friday 28 Oct, there’s Hang, a lunch and get together, at Finkh on Esterhazygasse; then Laboratory (with PASF [lab]) in the early evening at Porgy and Bess on Riemergasse; and then at 10pm in concert at Brut in the Konzerthaus with Jeanne Added plus Matt Calvert; and Hunch Factory featuring Ritsche Koch; plus Nightline comprising a live set from Antiehdaz and a BNCKD DJ set. Saturday features Hang at Finkh again, Laboratory in the early evening at Porgy and Bess; and later Linnake plus Orchestra of Love in concert (10pm) at Brut in the Konzerthaus, followed by an Elecktro Guzzi live set and DJ Patrick Pulsinger from half past midnight.
