“She’s a Diva!” is how legendary pianist Ahmad Jamal used to describe vocalist Mina Agossi and her impressive self-made career as a captivating jazz vocalist. Born in France in 1972 to French and West African parents, the singer and composer’s unique style and delivery first came to attention in 1995 when she co-produced an album of original tunes entitled Voice & Bass, using no wind, brass or keyboard instruments. She has subsiquently toured around the world for more than 3O years, with her atypical band of double bass, drums and voice, and made appearances with saxophone legend Archie Shepp and pianist Ahmad Jamal as their special invited guest.

In 2020, Mina discovered the Parisian electronic music world and started a new collaboration with a band called AGE7, co-founded by Marc Charrière, ex-keyboard and sound designer for Peter Gabriel, Chavan and Eddy Mitchell, and his colleague Fabien Miedzianowski, electric guitar player and acclaimed composer. This has now resulted in, Lonely Whales, an album full of electronica-influenced jazz sounds and hypnotic melodies. With Mina Agossi on vocals, the album features Charriere on keyboards and sound design, Miedzianowski on guitar and Eric Jacot on bass, and was recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio Alchimie, Paris in July 2023.

The album is released on 8 December on Alchimie Records and receives its UK live launch at the 606 Club, London 13 December 2023 – see the video below to listen to the title track and for more info visit www.606club.co.uk
